3/8-16 lock washers are made of hardened steel. The surface of the washers is bent so that the deformation of the washers under stress will prevent bolt loosening. These lock washers help lock bolts in place when they are tightened on surfaces that may be subjected to vibratory loosening of screws or bolts.
